"It has been my biggest mentor in life. The ocean has taught me excitement, fear, happiness, pain, passion, dedication, joy, serenity, travel, patience along with many other things that has shaped me into a better person."
"I have nearly drowned three or four times in big surf, had about five big sharks have a sniff at me, multiple broken bones, been stitched up, reef cuts, busted ear drums, snapped boards, stuck in foreign countries and I have loved every minute of it
I have had a pod of dolphins introduce me to a tiny baby, which over a few months, they would always stop and let it swim to me. I have watched massive hump back whales swim ten yards away from me, dugong's come and check me out. I have had many fun times swimming and surfing with seals and dolphins. It's an amazing feeling to look down and see two or three dolphins swim underneath you when you are on a wave. It's not an amazing feeling looking at a big tiger shark that looks like a submarine swim at you and then just disappear, phew.
You got to love sharks thou, there's not many sports around that you could see this amount of wildlife.
I grew up in Newquay in Cornwall and feel in love with the ocean and the rugged coastline at an early age. I started surfing at the age of four on a wooden belly board in the 70's, then advanced to the foamie then onto the big single fins.
Know I love to ride all different boards just to keep the fun going.
From an early age the coastline was our playground, when it was flat we would find the biggest cliffs and jump of them into the ocean, on big storms we wold go to the sheltered corners and swim and get smashed in the shore breaks and other.
I still get the excitement just before I jump into the ocean on a good day as I did when I was a grommet.
It was an great playground to grow up in, but as I got into my later teens, I realised that cold winters are not that much fun, So I chased the endless summer, escaping winters for warmer climates. I have been very lucky to call Queensland in Australia home for the last twenty years and love everything about it.
I look forward to bringing you more images of this amazing coast line of the sunshine coast.
Get out there:)
